Finasteride (Proscar or Propecia) is a medication used in dogs to restore infertility issues caused by benign prostatic hypertrophy (an enlargement of the prostate gland caused by hormones) and treat the general clinical signs associated with it.
Finasteride is a hormone antagonist which stops testosterone from being converted to dihydrotestosterone, the hormone that stimulates prostate growth. Finasteride can be used to help with signs related to benign prostatic hypertrophy such as increased urge to urinate, straining to defecate, and blood in the urine.
Finasteride blocks production of the body's male hormone, which causes prostate enlargement.

Originally started as a side effect, finasteride caused a decrease in the amount of testosterone (the active ingredient in male sex drugs), which then suppressed prostate size. It also caused some to experience side effects such as reduced urination, constipation, and dry skin. Prostatic shrinkage was a side effect that didn’t affect everyone, but sometimes caused some people who take it to experience side effects like weakness or pain. This is classed as alpha-TOR (ennisvald’s spl vaccine).
We are having trouble getting our periods up. This vaccine is not helping us. If your periods are not up anymore, you should talk to your healthcare provider.

Objective:To assess the efficacy of a topical finasteride 1 mg/mL cream for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and to determine if it can also be used as an adjunct to surgery in patients with a normal prostatic urethrostomy.
Design and setting:A retrospective review of the records of 997 patients with a normal prostatic urethrostomy and 692 patients with BPH treated with topical finasteride 1 mg/mL cream or placebo.
Patient population and clinical evaluation:The main study population included patients with a normal prostatic urethrostomy, and those with BPH. The primary outcome measure was to determine if there was an improvement in symptoms of BPH or a reduction in BPH-related COSE symptom score over time.
Results:Of the 997 patients, 997 (63.5%) were treated with topical finasteride 1 mg/mL cream and 692 (61.5%) were treated with placebo, with a median duration of use of 36 months (IQR 23–46). The most common side effects of the topical finasteride 1 mg/mL cream were headache (10%, 9/9) and facial flushing (9%, 9/9). The most common side effects of placebo were localised urinary retention (14%, 10/9), nausea (9%, 9/9), and dyspepsia (8%, 8/9). All adverse events were mild or moderate and reported on average 1.4 (range, 0.6–3.8) events per patient.
Conclusion:No significant changes in symptoms or in COSE symptom scores over time in patients treated with topical finasteride 1 mg/mL cream or placebo were noted.
